Collection: Marie Idesheim
Marie is a self-taught French painter living in Portugal, with more than twenty years of experience in artistic painting.
She has been interested in drawing since she was a child, reproducing on paper small characters inspired by the daily scenes of a local bar in which she grew up throughout her childhood. Solitary, evolving very early in the adult world, she tends to take refuge in her mind. She analyses the human behavior around her. Drawing is then a way to get out of her inner confinement, to transform her felt emotions, and to give meaning to what is happening without having the necessary maturity to put words on the evils. From then on, she knew that her life would be inspired by the human condition and she even decided to pursue a career in social work. She paid close attention to the expression on a face, a body, what it is necessary to capture in another person in order to better understand. She will then develop qualities of human observation. To seek to understand rather than to judge.
In 1999, she decided, in parallel to her profession, to take up her brushes. Until then she had always shown a keen interest in art. She is fascinated by color, matter and her hyper-sensitivity makes her feel intense sensations. She decided to translate her feelings by expressing them in art. Self-taught, she took courses with local professional artists to acquire the basic techniques of oil painting. She soon moved away from this form of training to explore the possibilities of oil painting herself, while
retaining the freedom to express her creativity. She does not regret not having learned in an academic way. A lot of bibliographical research in the field of art is part of her free time.
In 2003 she opened her first painting studio. It is the one of her numerous apprenticeships, in the success as in the difficulty.
In 2013 she decided to take flight, having acquired more mastery of the techniques and with the desire to transmit and share her skills. She then opened a new, much larger studio where it is also possible to give painting lessons and to have spaces dedicated to the exhibition of her paintings. At the same time, she started to exhibit in art fairs. In 2016 she obtained her free artist status in order to offer her works for sale.
In October 2018, she left France to settle in Portugal and opened her studio in Quelfes (Olhão) and continued her personal productions of work
