Collection: Kate Byrne
Kate is an Irish watercolour artist who works from her studios at home, both in the West of Ireland and the Alentejo, Portugal. Her artistic journey began with painting watercolour dog portraits, she painted what she was passionate about and completed many commissions of family pets.
Since living part time in Portugal her inspiration has evolved and her work now depicts a mystical, impressionistic style of painting exploring semi-abstract spiritual imagery, nature subjects, and Portugal and Ireland’s wild and beautiful landscape.
Her work hangs in Kilmantin Arts, Co Wicklow, Ireland and New Art Gallery, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. Kate’s solo show, “A frenzy of dreams and dog related themes” at Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Ireland took place in May 2023. Kate also enjoys participating in art trails and open exhibitions and she was recently selected for inclusion in the Boyle Arts Open Exhibition, Co Roscommon, Ireland.
Kate portrays her art using vivid colours & different textures in an attempt to demonstrate the ever moving and changing aspect of life and nature.
Working in a fluid, quick and loose style is her method of choice while exploring vibrant, semi-abstract shapes and unusual textures. Her creative urge has resulted in an impulsive and energetic process and themes of dreams, new life and bright, colourful, sunny days feature strongly in her work.
